Dr. Gordon Crofoot
MEDICAL DOCTOR
Gordon Crofoot MD is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS. He is based in Houston, Texas, and has been practicing medicine for over 40 years. Dr. Crofoot graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Biochemistry, he earned his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois and completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Crofoot is a permanent resident of Mexico and also resides in Merida. He has been actively involved in the community and in 2006 he founded a nonprofit organization called Brazos Abiertos (Fundación BAI AC) in Yucatan. Through this organization, he introduced health education initiatives for the youth in Mayan villages, conducted the first-ever HIV testing program in a Mayan village, and established HIV care for individuals diagnosed with the infection. In 1998, Dr. Crofoot assumed the role of Medical Director at Montrose Clinic 501c3, now known as Legacy Community Health Services. He played a pivotal role in the development of the Ryan White, Title 1, HIV treatment program, which aimed to provide healthcare services for HIV-infected individuals lacking insurance coverage. Furthermore, he updated the 'Next Step' program, designed to educate patients who were newly diagnosed with HIV. Throughout his career, Dr. Crofoot has received recognition and accolades for his outstanding work. In 1988, he was voted as the 'Best Physician' for HIV care in Harris County by medical professionals. He has been honored with several humanitarian awards for his contributions to internal and HIV medicine, including the Houston Black Tie Dinner Humanitarian Service Award in 2006 and the AIDS Foundation Houston 2007 Shelby Hodge Vision Award. In 1997, he received the HGLPC Humanitarian Award, which acknowledged his lifelong dedication to demonstrating compassion and advocating for the dignity and equality of all individuals. Additionally, readers of OutSmart Magazine voted him as Houston's top doctor in 2009 to 2022. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Crofoot has been involved in research related to HIV/AIDS and has published over 100 articles in medical journals. He has been principal Investigator for over 200 research protocols. He is also actively involved in community outreach and education efforts related to HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases. Overall, Dr. Gordon Crofoot is a respected and experienced Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease specialist and clinical researcher who is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to his patients.
Dr. Rodney Trimble
DOCTOR OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE
Dr. Trimble is certified in Family Practice with an emphasis on MAT for Addiction Medicine as well as prevention and treatment of HIV. He also works with patients who have an extensive history of mental illness and as noted has a passion to help often overlooked communities live more healthy and happier lives.
He received his medical degree from TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 34 years. Dr. Rodney B. Trimble has expertise in treating Addiction, Hypertension, Asthma, Acne, among other conditions.
Derek Smith
NURSE PRACTITIONER
Derek became a Nurse Practitioner in 2016, has been a RN for over 10 years and been with the Crofoot team for 7 years. He began his career in healthcare as a Medical Assistant in the ER in Ohio where he grew up. His first job as a RN was at Duke Universities Medical Center in the CT Step down unit while enrolled in Duke's Nurse Practitioner program with sub specialty in HIV care.

Kendrick Clack
NURSE PRACTITIONER
Kendrick T. Clack is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with experience in routine primary care, gender-affirming care, and specialties in hepatitis and HIV. He has certifications from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
He has received recognition as Nurse of the Year and Forty under Forty Leaders in Minority Health. Some of his professional and civic engagements include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Black Nurses Association, Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc., and Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Political Caucus.
Kendrick is a veteran of the US Navy Nurse Corps. In his spare time, he enjoys running and traveling.
John Chapman
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
John D. Chapman is a nationally certified physician assistant and licensed in the state of Texas. During his first few years as a physician assistant, he worked in Orthopedics Sports Medicine. His focus during that time was on fracture management and joint care including the knee, shoulder, back, and hip. John is proficient in in intra-articular joint injections. John has been a part of the Crofoot team since August 2021 and has enjoyed learning about HIV medicine, gender affirming care, and routine primary care medicine.
John was born in raised in San Antonio, TX and has lived in the great city of Houston for 2 years. In his free time, he enjoys binging a nice Netflix series, playing volleyball, reading, playing spike ball and exploring all that Houston has to offer. Currently does not have any pets but hopes to have a Corgi in the future.
